Q

How do I calculate my UF GPA?

Multiply each course's UF grade points by its credit hours to get quality points, add them up, and divide by total credits. The calculator above applies UF's exact grade values automatically.

  • Step 1: grade points x credits = quality points for each course
  • Step 2: add all quality points
  • Step 3: add all credit hours
  • Step 4: quality points / total credits = GPA
  • Example: A(4.0)x3 + B(3.0)x3 = 21.00 / 6 = 3.50
Q

What GPA do you need for the Dean's List at UF?

UF's Dean's List requires about a 3.75 GPA with at least 12 graded credits. Dean's List is set per college: e.g. CLAS requires a 3.75 semester GPA (>=12 letter-graded credits, no drops or incompletes), Heavener Business and Pharmacy 3.50. The university-wide President's Honor Roll requires a 4.0 GPA with >=15 graded credits.

Understanding the University of Florida GPA Scale

University of Florida uses E instead of F as the failing grade. UF uses E instead of F and does not award A+ (A is the maximum, 4.0). It uses a full +/- scale including C-, D+, and D-. Because the grade values differ from a generic 4.0 calculator, your UF GPA should be computed on the school's own scale — which is exactly what the calculator above does.

Credit hours matter as much as grades: a 4.0 in a 4-credit course adds 16.0 quality points, while the same grade in a 1-credit course adds only 4.0. Higher-credit courses move your UF GPA more.

Two thresholds shape your standing at UF: stay at or above 2.0 to remain in good academic standing, and reach about 3.75 to make the Dean's List. The thresholds bar above shows where your current GPA falls between them.
