Introduction
Welcome to UseCalcPro ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website usecalcpro.com.
Information We Collect
Information Automatically Collected
When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- IP address, used only in memory to rate-limit abusive requests and never written to our database
- Pages visited and time spent on pages
- Referring website addresses
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, and similar technologies to run the website, remember your preferences, measure calculator usage, and display ads. Non-essential, consent-gated analytics and advertising technologies are controlled by our privacy preferences banner. We also use cookieless, always-on aggregate analytics that sets no cookies and stores no persistent identifier on your device, so it is not gated by the banner (see below).
Types of Cookies We Use:
- Essential Storage: Required for the website to function properly, remember privacy choices, and support core calculator features
- Analytics Storage (consent-gated): Helps us understand how visitors interact with our website, including Google Analytics and limited first-party calculator events. These only load after you enable analytics in Privacy Choices
- Aggregate Analytics (cookieless, always-on): Umami, our self-hosted analytics tool, measures aggregate page views without cookies and without storing a persistent identifier on your device
- Advertising Storage: Used by Google AdSense to serve and measure advertisements
You can change your choices at any time by selecting "Privacy Choices" in the footer.
Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
For more information about how Google uses data when you use our website, please visit Google Privacy Policy.
Analytics and Calculator Events
We use Umami, a self-hosted analytics tool that runs on our own infrastructure at analytics.usecalcpro.com, to measure aggregate page-view data such as which pages are visited and how much traffic our website receives. Umami is cookieless: it sets no cookies and stores no persistent identifier on your device, so it loads automatically without a consent gate. Because Umami runs on our own infrastructure, this data is not shared with any third-party analytics vendor.
If you allow analytics, we may collect limited usage events such as page views, calculator views, button clicks, ratings, and sanitized calculator input and result values. We remove emails, long text, nested objects, and other oversized values before sending first-party calculator events. We use this information to improve calculator accuracy, reliability, and site performance.
AI Explain Feature
Many calculators include an optional "AI Explain" button. This feature only runs if you click it; it never runs automatically. When you click AI Explain, the inputs you entered and the results your calculator produced are sent to OpenRouter, a third-party AI provider, so it can generate a plain-language explanation of your results. On health calculators, this can include figures such as weight or age if you entered them.
Because whatever you type into a calculator can be included in this request, please do not enter your name or other personal or identifying information into a calculator if you plan to use the AI Explain feature.
For more information about how OpenRouter handles data, please review OpenRouter's Privacy Policy.
Bug Reports
If you use the "Report a bug" form on a calculator, we collect the description you write, the page URL, your browser's user agent string, and, only if you choose to provide one, your email address. This information is submitted as an issue in our private GitHub repository via the GitHub API so our team can track and fix the problem. GitHub, Inc. hosts this repository as our third-party service provider; we only use an email address you provide to follow up on your report.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our website
- Improve, personalize, and expand our website
- Understand and analyze how you use our website
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
- Display relevant advertisements
Data Retention
Calculator results are generated in your browser. If analytics is enabled, limited sanitized event data may be sent to our analytics endpoint and to Google Analytics. Events stored on our own infrastructure are deleted automatically after 14 months by a scheduled purge; data held by Google Analytics is retained according to Google's own retention policy.
Umami, our self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool, retains only aggregate page-view data on our own infrastructure. Because Umami sets no cookies and stores no persistent identifier on your device, this data cannot be tied to you individually and is kept only as long as needed to measure overall site traffic.
Bug reports are kept as issues in our private GitHub repository until we resolve them, and you may ask us to delete one at any time (see "Your Rights" below). For the AI Explain feature, the inputs and results you send are relayed to OpenRouter to generate a response; our server also keeps a temporary copy in memory for up to 24 hours so identical requests do not have to be regenerated, and does not store it in a database beyond that.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to rectification of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@usecalcpro.com and tell us what you would like us to access or delete. If your request relates to a bug report, include the approximate date and calculator name so we can find and delete the matching GitHub issue; if you gave us an email address in that report, we will delete it too.
We are not able to look up or delete individual first-party analytics events on request. Each analytics event is tagged with a visitor and session identifier that is generated fresh, in memory, each time you load the site; it is never written to a cookie, localStorage, or any other persistent storage on your device. Because that identifier cannot be reproduced or looked up later, we have no way to match a stored analytics event back to you or your device to fulfill a deletion request specific to you. If you have enabled Google Analytics, you can manage that data directly through your Google account, and you can withdraw analytics consent at any time from "Privacy Choices" in the footer.
Children's Privacy
Our website is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
