Standard single-color bags contain 1,000 beads ($3–$4 retail). Multi-color tubs hold 6,000–22,000 beads ($15–$50). Bulk bags of 1,000 beads in single colors cost $2–$3 when bought in packs of 10 or more.
Divide the total bead count by the number of colors for an even split. For uneven designs, count beads of each color manually from a pixel art pattern. Coverage percentage reduces total beads if the design does not fill the entire board.
Use medium heat (270–300°F) with parchment or ironing paper. Iron in slow circles for 10–30 seconds until beads fuse and become slightly transparent. Let cool under a heavy book to prevent warping.
Perler beads (US brand) are 5mm and come in 90+ colors. Hama beads (European) are 5mm with 60+ colors and slightly different shapes. Artkal beads offer 5mm and 2.6mm (mini) sizes with 200+ colors. They are NOT interchangeable in the same design.
