Changing from 1:1 to 2:1 does not change the total mixed volume, but it does change how much of each bottle you need to pour.
Start with mold area times pour depth to get cubic inches, then convert to fluid ounces. The calculator does that automatically and adds waste so mixing cups and drips are covered too.
Around 5 to 10% is a sensible default for coasters. Use the high end if you flood the edges, tint heavily, or pour decorative inclusions that increase cleanup losses.
The total mixed volume stays the same, but the split changes. A 1:1 resin uses equal parts, while a 2:1 system uses roughly two-thirds resin and one-third hardener by volume.
Many coaster molds sit around 1/8 to 3/8 inch for standard pours, though thicker decorative pours can go deeper. Always follow the mold and resin manufacturer limits for safe curing.
