What is ballistic coefficient (BC)?

Ballistic coefficient measures a bullet's ability to overcome air resistance. Higher BC means the bullet retains velocity better at distance, resulting in less drop and wind drift. Long, streamlined bullets have higher BCs than short, blunt ones.

How do I calculate bullet drop at distance?

Bullet drop depends on muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, distance, and zero range. Gravity pulls the bullet down at 32.2 ft/s² regardless of velocity. Faster bullets reach the target sooner, experiencing less gravity drop. The calculator uses sight-line geometry relative to your zero range.

  • Zero range: where bullet path crosses line of sight
  • Beyond zero: bullet drops below line of sight
  • Higher BC = less drop at same distance
  • Faster muzzle velocity = less drop

What does MOA mean for scope adjustments?

MOA (Minute of Angle) is an angular measurement used for scope turrets. 1 MOA equals approximately 1.047 inches at 100 yards. If your bullet drops 6 inches at 300 yards, you need about 2 MOA of adjustment (6 / 3.14).
