Use 110–156 mesh for bold graphics and spot colors. Use 200–230 mesh for moderate detail and process prints. Use 305 mesh for halftones and photographic images.

Plastisol ink costs about $0.65/oz, making a single-color 10" × 12" print about $1.75 in ink. Water-based is slightly cheaper at $0.55/oz but needs heat setting. Specialty inks (puff, metallic) cost $1.20–$1.50/oz.
Plastisol sits on top of the fabric creating an opaque, durable print that must be heat-cured at 320°F. Water-based ink penetrates the fibers for a softer hand feel and needs heat setting, but is less opaque on dark garments.
